Learning differences & academic support

When a bright, capable kid keeps struggling at school, it’s rarely about effort — and “try harder” only makes it worse. The right testing reveals why, and the right support turns school from a daily battle into something your child can actually master.

01

What parents often notice

  • A gap between how smart your child clearly is and how school is going
  • Reading, writing, spelling, or math that lags despite real effort
  • Homework that takes hours and ends in tears
  • Trouble getting started, staying organized, or finishing what they begin
  • Avoidance, frustration, or “I’m just dumb” — a real hit to confidence
  • Teachers raising concerns, or a private school suggesting an evaluation
02

03

How it shows up with age

Younger children

Trouble with early reading or numbers, avoidance of schoolwork, and shaky confidence.

School-age kids

Widening gaps, homework battles, disorganization, and frustration despite clear ability.

Teens

Procrastination, missed deadlines, test anxiety, and grades that don’t match potential.

College-age young adults

Managing workload, deadlines, and independence when the scaffolding of home is gone.

04

Why testing matters

Many things can make school hard — a learning disability, ADHD, anxiety, processing differences, or a mix. Guessing wastes years; clear testing points to the right support and often unlocks accommodations your child is entitled to. Because Dr. Adam understands both the learning and the emotional side, the picture stays connected — not siloed.

Questions parents ask

My child is smart — could they really have a learning disability?

Yes, and often do. Learning differences have nothing to do with intelligence. In fact, the gap between ability and performance is frequently the first clue.

Is this ADHD, a learning disability, or anxiety?

It can be any of these — or a combination. That’s exactly what a thorough evaluation is designed to untangle, so the support actually fits.

Will testing help my child get accommodations?

Often, yes. Formal testing is usually what schools and testing boards require to grant accommodations, and we help you navigate that.

How fast can we be seen?

Usually within the same week. If it’s urgent, tell us when you call.

Turn school from a battle into a strength.

It starts with a straightforward phone call to talk through what’s going on.
